State of the Market

M&A deal volume in the EdTech sector through August 2026 (149 deals) has already exceeded the ten year record set in 2025 of 133 deals. There was significant interest from both strategic and financial acquirers, with Private Equity firms accounting for 29% of the deals. Disclosed deal value was $0.9B. However, only 9% of the transactions disclosed deal value, continuing a trend as buyers guard details of their acquisitions. 

The Online Education subsector was most the targeted with 44 deals, followed by Workforce Training (36 deals) and Student Management & Administration (31 deals) subsystems. 

Most EdTech sellers and buyers were based in the U.S. (sellers: 44%, buyers: 50%), followed by those in the U.K. (sellers: 11%, buyers: 8%). Buyers and sellers in other European countries, Canada, Australia, India, and Japan were also active. Dealmaking remained international with 33% of the transactions cross-border.

Top EdTech Acquirers

The top buyer in the EdTech sector through August 2026 was Canadian buy-and-hold company Constellation Software with four buys. Following with two buys each was Canadian buy-and hold company Valsoft Corporation; Newsela, an AI-powered content and assessment platform provider; and Training360.com, an online regulatory compliance training company. Other strategic buyers in the list included K-12 educational platform provider Progress Learning; and Fullmind, a provider of certified virtual teachers and educational services. Financial acquirers such as PE firms Alpine Investors, Brydon Group, and Inverness Graham Investments were also active in the sector.

360training.com (Training360) has been on an aggressive acquisition spree in 2026, heavily consolidating in the EdTech, workforce compliance, and online certification sectors. In Q3 2026, it acquired select assets from Atlantic Training, an HR compliance, OSHA, and workplace safety training provider. The acquisition adds 305 courses and Atlantic Training’s WAVE EHS management software, a digital environment, health, and safety management platform, to Training360's ecosystem. 360Training also acquired select assets from Electronic Medical Certification (eMedCert.com), which provides online life support training. The purchase expands Training360's healthcare life support certification portfolio, including online Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) courses.

Key EdTech Transactions

There were no megadeals in the EdTech sector through August 2026. In the largest Edtech deal in 2026, Qoria, an Australia-based developer of tools enabling collaboration between schools and parents focused on digital safety and wellbeing, was acquired for $682M at 9.2x revenue by online safety platform provider Aura. The deal unites Aura's AI-powered suite of online safety and wellbeing tools with Qoria's global connected schools ecosystem, and strengthens Aura's position in the digital safety market by, providing all-in-one protection for individuals, families and enterprises worldwide.

In India, AI-driven Edtech startup Digital Benchers was acquired for $176M at 11.4x revenue by e-learning company Infonative Solutions. Digital Benchers offers AI-powered personalized learning, intelligent study planning, adaptive diagnostics, and performance analytics to competitive exam aspirants in various sectors, including Defense and Allied Services. The acquisition expands Infonative's service reach from corporate learning into competitive exam Edtech.

And Edu Intelligence, a U.K.-based, AI-native platform designed for educational institutions, was bought by software and online services provider Faria Education Group. The acquisition enhances Faria's EdTech offerings it offers to its network of over 10,000 schools and 4 million students across 155 countries. It also strengthens Faria's market position as an AI-first company.
