We had an excellent question in October's webinar (Missed it? Listen here) about timing. When M&A deals are trending up, should you wait to sell, or should you sell ASAP?

If you have a company that is in a position to sell, we rarely advocate waiting. Even if you go to market and find out you're not quite ready, or don't find the ideal buyer, the experience will benefit your company, and those who are looking to buy will become aware of you. If you wait too long, your revenues can go up, your multiples can go up, and you may no longer be as appealing to potential acquirers. Worse yet, the market may take a downturn and the window of opportunity could close for several years. But getting out there and making yourself visible, there's always an advantage to that, even if it's not immediate.
