One of the deals we highlighted in our March webinar is important and exciting for a number of reasons. Nordstrom, a Seattle-based brick-and-mortar retailer, is forging ahead by joining the flash discount craze with its acquisition of HauteLook. Groupon and some of its competitors are quite popular here in Seattle already, so it makes a lot of sense that Nordstrom would ride this trend, but it also shows their willingness to adapt and accept the technical side of business. Since Nordstrom already has an excellent marketing team, there is virtually no obstacle to starting this kind of service for them. Look for other retailers to fall in line, and look for Nordstrom to capitalize on these steps by moving into the social networking space more fully.
