My general feeling about the deal is that technically it is a good fit in that their networks are compatible; both use GSM and they can scale financially better together. What I do not like about the deal is I believe the consumer loses. This will bring less device choices to the market, likely eliminate what is known as one of the best customer service carriers (T-Mobile) into one of the worse; Southwestern Bell (they like to call themselves ATT, but the reality is SBC had a horrible reputation and they took the ATT name when they bought them a few years back). However, if ATT does not Sprint their Nextel,, keeps an open mind to people and processes that are better, and takes the best from both organizations, there is a very good chance this merger could be one of the best in the history of the wireless industry.
