j2 Global has been very active in M&A for email, fax and messaging SaaS. Within California it has acquired SugarSync, Nuvotera and EmailDirect.com. International acquisitions include Sweden's Stay Secure, Ireland's Arion IT and Firstway Digital and Canada's Quantum RB. j2 Global ranks among Corum's Top Strategic Acquirers for 2014, and already has another 10 companies rolled up in Q1 2015.
j2 has a long history of expansion through acquisition. In the early 2000s, it made many acquisitions that drove a 5.2x revenue growth over 10 years and crossing $3B in market cap. We expect it to conduct more deals in the Digital Media segment as the company plans to increase its dependence on advertising revenue despite the volatile market.
