I was amused by the list of "Top 20 Obsolete Technologies" compiled by our friends at ABS Capital Partners. Many of these were long time market leaders, or strikingly innovative technologies that seemed like a sure thing. Looking back, it reinforces the fact that things are ever changing, and what we may think is hot may not be in short order. It should make us all examine what we are doing, and where are companies are headed. Maybe now is the time to make that game changing investment, or seek a larger partner, or divest of a product that is just at its peak. Hard to believe that the dominant brand of Sonys Walkman or the ubiquitous Boom Box would be replaced by innovative products such as Apples iPod.
