Over the last number of months I have been increasingly excited about the uptake in the smartphone market. I usually look to my early-20s / late-teen's kids to see what they and their friends are doing. They all have a BlackBerru or iPhone a year ago it was all cheap Nokias. While Google Android struggled with the first launch, the next version sounds a lot better and when Google makes hardware you know its got to be important. Nokia is starting to panic but is working hard to keep market share. Not surprisingly, smartphone apps are popping up everywhere and with faster networks not to mention Wi-Fi it is really transformational. At 56 years old. I swore I would never download and watch a movie on such a tiny screen but I did on my BlackBerry 9700... and it wasnt bad. And it didnt end partway through when the plane landed.

All that to say that in such a booming market, watch for software acquisitions as sellers get inventive and buyers go for the land grab. Its about to get busy.
