Have you seen the term The Edison Gap. I hadnt, but I expect everyone else has. The phrase was coined by Francis McInerney, the managing director of North River Ventures in NewYork to describe the financial hole technology companies dig when they spend more on R&D than they get back in operating profits. Im not going to spend time on that subject. If youre in the software business I expect you have personal experience in the phenomenon. I was just thinking about how cool it is to come up with a few words that capture something everyone understands and forever have your name associated with it. Who needs to write a novel?
