Asia is now the most dynamic market in the world. Here in Singapore the real estate market is buzzing and signs of growth are everywhere. Ive lived half my life in Asia and flown across the Pacific for business trips many times. But this time its software M&A that brings me back to Singapore to negotiate a transaction between two Asian companies Asian seller and Asian buyer a sign of changing times. The Asian Development Bank is projecting 7.5% growth for the region in 2010, and in Singapore -- as in Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Mumbai, and other Asian cities -- the rise in Asian affluence can be seen everywhere. Growing Asian economic leadership is enabled by a modern infrastructure and fueled by a hardworking and well educated population. One cant help but see that that Asia will feature increasingly in software M&A in the next 10 years. Historically, acquirers have come from North America and Europe to invest in Asian companies, and many of the past Asian technology acquisitions have been IT services labor arbitrage plays. Expect that to change as we advance into the Pacific Century. Looking for the best acquirer for your software company? Be sure your search is comprehensive and global, and be sure to include Asian buyers.
