GENBAND acquires NextPoint Networks

GENBAND, a developer of next-generation IP infrastructure solutions, acquired NextPoint Networks, a market share leader in carrier grade security solutions, including Session Border Controllers and Security Gateways for Fixed Mobile Convergence solutions. With this move, GENBAND adds a powerful layer of security capabilities to the company’s market-share leading gateway solutions. It also enhances GENBAND’s leadership position in gateways and puts the company on an aggressive product development path aimed at the integration of emerging technologies like security, control and packet inspection. Further, with this acquisition, GENBAND’s global customer count increases to more than 800 service providers in more than 80 countries.

Expand Networks to acquire NetPriva

Expand Networks, a provider of WAN Optimization Controllers (WOCs), is acquiring privately held NetPriva Pty Ltd, a specialist developer of software-only WAN Optimization solutions. NetPriva's unique socket-level classification technology introduces a new dimension of traffic visibility and recognition based on socket processing inside the client operating system.  With WAN infrastructures shifting from traditional hub-and-spoke to mesh architectures, application and data traffic profiles are changing from datacenter-to-branch connectivity to more interactive office-to-office, remote user-to-remote user communications. NetPriva's technology offers the deepest levels of quality of service assurance, application control, traffic shaping and management on the market today, enabling organizations to deliver guaranteed bandwidth, prioritize applications and enhance WAN performance.

Managed Data Holdings acquires Stargate

Managed Data Holdings, LLC, an operator of state-of-the-art data centers, has acquired Oak Brook-based Stargate. Stargate provides Global IT infrastructure services. Founded in 1989, Stargate offers premium colocation and dedicated server solutions to its customer base.  The deal provides a strategic geographic location with leading-edge data center technology, and bolsters Managed Data Holdings' disaster recovery offerings to mid-size and enterprise business customers.

Brocade to acquire Foundry Networks

Brocade is acquiring Foundry Networks, Inc., a performance and total solutions provider for network switching and routing in a deal designed to challenge industry behemoth Cisco Systems. The acquisition will better position Brocade as a provider of enterprise and service provider networking solutions, with innovative technology and product leadership from the Internet to the heart of data centers. The acquisition will bring together two financially strong companies in complementary technology sectors and allow the combined entity to better address today's customer needs, as well as the evolution toward converged networks. Brocade also believes that the combined company will be well-positioned to create unique synergies, and to leverage the respective technologies, customer segments, and distribution channels of the two companies to accelerate growth and innovation in key markets.

Insight acquires MINX

Insight Enterprises, Inc. has acquired MINX Limited, a small UK-based European Network Integrator with Cisco Gold Partner accreditation. This acquisition is consistent with Insight’s evolution to a broad-based technology solutions advisor and provider in the UK. MINX will become part of the operation of Insight Direct (UK) Ltd and will significantly enhance Insight UK’s capabilities in the sale, implementation and management of network infrastructure services and solutions. This acquisition will complement Insight’s acquisition of Calence, a North American networking services company, in April and supports the Company’s global networking solutions strategy.
