GlobeCast (Netherlands) has acquired NETIA, which has offices in France, the United States, Italy and Australia, and offers leading software solutions for audiovisual content management. For GlobeCast, which is seeking to optimize the development of its content management solutions for broadcasters, NETIA has shown itself to be the best possible partner in this effort. NETIA, in turn, will benefit greatly from being a member of the GlobeCast Group as it looks to further its international expansion and the development of its innovative solutions.

Open Text to acquire Captaris

Open Text Corporation, a provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM), is acquiring Captaris, Inc., a provider of software products that automate document-centric processes. Captaris specializes in document capture, recognition, routing, workflow and delivery. Captaris integrated solutions provide interoperability with leading line of business applications and technology platforms. Captaris products include Captaris Workflow, Alchemy, DOKuStar, RecoStar, and Single Click Entry which are distributed through a global network of leading technology partners. The acquisition will expand Open Text's partnership offerings by creating tighter integration with Open Text's invoice management solutions that work with SAP and Oracle. Captaris also offers business information and delivery solutions built on the Microsoft .NET framework which integrate, process and automate the flow of content. Captaris's technology will strengthen Open Text's ECM solutions by providing another on-ramp for integrating content into its ECM solutions.

KIT digital acquires Morpheum

KIT digital, a provider of IPTV enablement technology and video-centric marketing solutions, is acquiring Morpheum, an Australian provider of LanternCMS software. LanternCMS, the highlight of this acquisition, plays an integral role in expanding KIT digital’s IPTV platform. It is a versatile Web CMS that touts ease-of-use and functionality while offering a modular design. Its integration into KIT VX is expected to have numerous benefits for the company. KIT digital believes that LanternCMS’s integration into KIT VX will allow for “broader web-based content management” while immediately reducing operating costs by decreasing or eliminating third-party software reliance. KIT digital also believes that the acquisition of Morpheum will bring the company immediate cash flow contributions while materially expanding their delivery capabilities for content.

MedLeh Group and Equivalent DATA merge

The MedLeh Group will merge with its electronic discovery software and services company, Equivalent DATA. Medrano & Lehane said the integrated business will be based in Houston and will operate under the Equivalent DATA brand. Originally established in 1994, Equivalent DATA provides electronic and paper discovery services to law firms and corporate legal departments across the country. Thanks to the merger, Medrano & Lehane noted, Equivalent DATA now offers in-house installations of its proprietary NeedleFinder application as well as e-discovery outsourcing services, pre-discovery consulting, data collection, computer forensics, expert testimony and paper-based services, such as imaging and photocopying.

Interwoven to acquire Discovery Mining

Interwoven, Inc., a provider of content management solutions, is acquiring Discovery Mining, Inc., a leading eDiscovery provider to professional services firms and corporations. Discovery Mining significantly streamlines and simplifies the discovery phase of litigation and investigations with a SaaS solution for processing, reviewing and producing massive volumes of electronic data. The acquisition of Discovery Mining extends Interwoven's offering by adding a service for managing eDiscovery. Most organizations do not have the infrastructure to handle large volumes of information, and are turning to companies like Discovery Mining to manage the eDiscovery process for them. According to a recent report by Forrester Research, Inc., the North American eDiscovery market, which in 2006 was $1.45 billion, will grow to almost $4.89 billion by 2011 - an increase of 238 percent in five years.

Hyland Software acquires Liberty Information Management Systems

Hyland Software (Thoma Bravo portfolio company), the developer of the OnBase enterprise content management software suite, has acquired Liberty Information Management Systems. Since 1987, Liberty IMS has secured more than 1,000 implementations of its LibertyNET and LibertyNET Office products in organizations spanning several vertical markets, most notably in state and local government, transportation and logistics, financial services and healthcare. In acquiring Liberty IMS, Hyland adds a team of knowledgeable professionals with technical and sales expertise to help organizations optimize their document-centric business processes. Moreover, as a heavily channel-focused organization, Liberty IMS brings to Hyland an established network of channel partners that can help expand Hyland's own network of Authorized OnBase Solutions Providers in key U.S. and Canadian regional markets.

Open Text acquires Spicer Corporation Division

Open Text Corporation will acquire substantially all of the assets of Spicer Corporation’s division that specializes in file format viewer solutions for desktop applications, integrated BPM systems, and reprographics. Approximately 30 employees from this Spicer division will be joining Open Text, most of whom are based in Ontario, Canada, located near Open Text's corporate headquarters. This acquisition will complement and extend Open Text's existing ECM Suite, providing flexible document viewing options and enhanced document security functionality.
