Intel Capital to buy Telligent Systems stake
Intel Capital, which is the global investment arm of computer chip maker Intel Corp., said it agreed to pay $20 million for an unspecified stake in social computing and business intelligence company, Telligent Systems. Telligent Systems provides social computing solutions and business intelligence tools. Telligent will use the funding to expand its sales teams and to support growth in various markets. The company will also add to its marketing and advertising and product development plans. An initial closing was completed between Telligent and Intel Capital, and Intel Capital is expected to acquire the remainder of its stake within 12 months.

IHS Acquires Global Insight
IHS, Inc., a provider of data and solutions for four segments: energy, product lifecycle, security and environment, will acquire Global Insight, an information provider of comprehensive economic, financial, and political coverage of countries, regions, and industries available from any source—covering over 200 countries and spanning more than approximately 170 industries—using a unique combination of expertise, models, data, and software.

Cranes Software to acquire Cubeware GmbH
The Indian company, Cranes Software, provider of Enterprise Statistical Analytics and Engineering Simulation Software Products and Solutions, has entered into an agreement to acquire Cubeware GmbH through its wholly owned subsidiary, Systat Software. This step is part of Cranes’ strategic technology collaboration initiatives to enter the business solutions space. Cubeware GmbH with headquarters in Rosenheim (near Munich, Germany) is a provider of business intelligence (BI) and performance management (PM) solutions. The German company specializes in working with small and medium-sized enterprises as well as corporate departments.

LogiXML acquires OnDemandIQ
OnDemandIQ, a provider of software-as-a-service for managing sales organizations, has been acquired by LogiXML, a software developer and provider of an on-demand business intelligence service. OnDemandIQ co-founder Steve Schneider will become CTO of LogiOnDemand as part of the acquisition. The team from OnDemandIQ will continue to be located in Los Angeles, with that office also becoming an LA office for LogiXML. Both firms compete in the business intelligence sector against firms such as Business Objects and Cognos.
